What You’ll Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse with PEIRS, you will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based mental health care for young people and their families, providing assessment, case management, and therapeutic interventions within a community setting. Child, adolescent and youth mental health experience is essential.
- Deliver individual and group therapy services, medication management, and clinical assessments;
- Coordinate care planning and case management for young people aged 12–24;
- Provide clinical advice and psychoeducation to families, carers and key stakeholders;
- Participate in quality improvement, education and health promotion initiatives;
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery outcomes.
Essential Criteria
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Registered Nurse;
- Full registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
Selection Criteria
- Registered Nurse with significant experience working with children and/or young people with mental health concerns and their parents/guardians in a community mental health setting;
- Understanding of trauma‑informed care principles and application in therapeutic interventions for children/young people and families;
- Ability to build and maintain cooperative skilled and therapeutic relationships with children/young people, parents/guardians and key stakeholders via interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
- Independent problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision;
- High‑level verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to children/young people and families, and exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems;
- Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007;
- Ability to meet the supervision needs of students and/or less experienced staff and lead planning and evaluating team activities.
