About The Netball World Cup
The Netball World Cup (NWC) is the pinnacle tournament for the sport and occurs every four years. It brings the top 16 teams in the world together over 10 days, with teams competing across pool stages and finals to be crowned World Champion. In 2027, the NWC will be held in Sydney, Australia across August & September. In addition to generating significant economic impact - direct and indirect - for NSW and Australia, the Netball World Cup provides a significant moment for NA in its centenary year to drive interest, awareness and participation in the sport. NA's vision for the tournament is to deliver an innovative and record-breaking NWC that inspires a new generation of fans and players, achieving record commercial return and celebrating athletes on the global stage. It plans to achieve this, via the Local Organising Committee (LOC), through a focus on five Key Performance Areas being: Operational Excellence - How the Tournament is delivered. Fan Engagement - How the fan interacts and experiences the NWC. Commercial Return - Maximising profit to reinvest back into the game. Legacy & Inclusion - Leveraging the NWC to foster positive relations and grow the Game of Netball in Australia. Governance & Finance - The governance, administration and financial management of the Tournament.
About The Role
The Legacy Manager is to design and execute the Netball World Cup 2027 Legacy Plan to enhance participation and engagement within netball across Australia. The position will play a critical role in aligning existing national participation initiatives to a major event opportunity. The NWC Legacy Manager will develop a close working relationship with key staff across the Netball Australia and the Netball World Cup entity.
Throughout the duration of the NWC, the following are key areas of responsibility:
* Create and lead the operational execution of the Netball World Cup Legacy Plan, ensuring long-term community, participation, and performance benefits are realised following the 2027 event.
* Design, develop, implement, and evaluate strategic projects and initiatives outlined in the Legacy Plan, with a focus on increasing opportunities for participation and engagement across all levels of netball.
* Collaborate with Government relations to secure legacy funding to drive initiatives
* Coordinate a Member Organisation Working Group to support the delivery of localised initiatives.
* Collaborate with key delivery partners, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to design evidence-based programs that foster sustainable growth in women's leadership, participation, and engagement in netball.
* Prepare and manage comprehensive project plans, scheduling key milestones, engagement activities, and cross-functional workstreams to ensure timely and effective delivery.
* Drive the stakeholder engagement strategy by coordinating regular consultation forums, community engagement initiatives, and key stakeholder meetings, including the preparation of materials and supporting documentation.
* Develop and implement internal and external processes that streamline operations and encourage shared learning across the netball ecosystem.
* Lead communication and engagement efforts throughout the consultation, design, and delivery phases of Legacy projects.
* Consolidate and coordinate stakeholder feedback into project and program designs, funding proposals, and official reporting.
* Ensure clear timelines and deliverables for stakeholder input on major initiatives and facilitate the timely provision of information and resources.
* Prioritise and sequence project deliverables to optimise resourcing, funding alignment, and strategic impact.
* Oversee the preparation of evaluation reports, tracking impact against defined KPIs and outcomes within the Legacy Plan.
* Manage relationships with expert partners contributing to the design, delivery, and evaluation of Legacy initiatives.
* Represent Netball Australia at relevant forums, stakeholder meetings, and community engagement events, contributing to discussions and strengthening strategic partnerships.
About You
You're a highly organised and collaborative professional who thrives in dynamic, multi-stakeholder environments. You bring energy, initiative, and a sharp eye for detail, alongside a passion for sport and meaningful engagement. Ideally, you have:
* 5-6 years of project management or related experience;
* Proven experience in, and/or understanding of sport events and engagement programs;
* Highly structured in thinking and an exceptional written communicator;
* High degree of organisational, analytical and presentational skills;
* Resourceful with an exceptional attention to detail;
* Proactive approach to problem solving with an innovative mindset;
* Experience with design and program implementation;
* Organised and methodical with strong project management capabilities;
* Proven ability to thrive in consultative, collaborative environments and manage multiple stakeholders affectively;
* Capability to manage and perform across multiple reporting lines, both internally and with external stakeholders;
* Proven ability to work autonomously and with a project-based approach;
* Experience with planning and executing strategic initiatives;
* A critical thinker with natural instincts for using data and evidence as a foundation for developing frameworks and programs;
* Good research skills and techniques;
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and work with staff across departments;
* Flexible and agile to successfully respond to a diversity of one-off projects;
* A passion and understanding for sport
Qualifications
MBA or degree in business, sports or project management.

Additional Information
Reporting into the LOC COO, this full-time role will be based at Sydney Olympic Park, on a fixed-term basis through to November 2027. Given the unique nature of the sports industry, and the domestic & global reach of our organisation, travelling and working outside of Netball HQ and traditional office hours may be required from time to time. Our teams work flexibly, and we encourage the successful applicant to discuss flexible working options with their new Manager.
