The Data Center Engineering Operations Trainee role presents a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure within an Amazon Data Center. This position involves risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical systems, vendor management, and metric reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure all work performed adheres to established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
* Maintain performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on various aspects of critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
* Generate Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets as directed.
* Contribute to documentation relevant to business and facility operations.
* Assist with the installation of racks and provision of power/cooling within constraints.
* Participate in routine maintenance and emergency services for critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
* Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new facilities.
* Manage facility assets and provide infrastructure and inventory asset management as directed.
This is a 6-month fixed-term hire with potential to become a full-time role.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Interest in maintaining a Data Center or Critical space facility.
* Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environments.
* Physical Security protocol awareness.
* Computer literacy and confidence with Office Suite.
* This position requires physical ability to lift rack equipment and work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Degree or Technical (Military/Trade School) Degree Cert IV and relevant experience are preferred. Data Center Engineering/Operations experience and Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline are also desirable.
