We are seeking an APS5 Community & Peer Worker to join a multidisciplinary mental health and wellbeing team supporting current and former serving military members and their families. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience of military service or military family life, combined with a personal mental health recovery journey, who is passionate about helping others through strengths‐based, recovery‐focused support. You will play an important role in providing personalised peer support, building a strong rapport with clients, contributing to group programs, and promoting awareness of support services within the veteran community.
Your new role
As a Community & Peer Worker, you will:
* Provide personalised, recovery‐oriented peer support to individuals and families.
* Work with clients to identify goals, strengths, needs and develop individual Action Plans.
* Use your lived experience to build genuine, trusting relationships and foster hope.
* Contribute to case reviews, work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and co‐facilitate group programs.
* Build networks with community organisations and stakeholders to increase awareness of available services.
* Maintain accurate documentation, records and reporting in line with policy, confidentiality, and service guidelines.
* Participate in ongoing professional development, peer supervision and lived‐experience networks.

* Lived experience connected to military service or military family life, with insight into mental health recovery.
* Strong communicator who can champion trauma‐informed and recovery‐oriented support.
* High integrity, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
* Collaborative team player within multidisciplinary environments.
* Dedicated to professional growth and reflective practice.
Desired Qualifications
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or willingness to obtain).
* Experience providing peer support, mentoring, coaching or working in mental health or community services.
Mandatory Requirements
* Lived experience of military service or military family life, along with a personal or carer‐related mental health journey (including supporting an ex‐ADF member through recovery).
* Ability to obtain (or already hold) a Working with Children / Vulnerable People Check.
* Australian citizenship (required for APS employment).
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
