GK Blue is a family-owned and operated company with decades of experience in structural steel fabrication and installation. We pride ourselves on delivering quality projects and being agile in responding to any requirements during the process. We offer full-spectrum project management expertise including pre-construction services, feasibility studies, engineering, drafting and shop drawings, steel procurement, in-house fabrication, surface preparation and finishing, transport, logistics, and installation. Additionally, we specialize in architectural steel, stairs, site welding and installation services, residential projects, crane hire, and steel fabrication.

This is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Sydney Area (Braemar, NSW).

We are looking for a hands-on, reliable team member to support our fabrication, installations, and warehouse operations. You'll work closely with the factory team, site crews, and project staff to help manage materials, track orders, and interpret technical structural drawings.

Responsibility

· Ensure correct welding technologies are used on projects so that work is completed on-time and to budget

· The technical application of all welding processes and welding activities carried out in the workshops.

· Follow company HSE policies and procedures.

· As defined in Clause f AS 1554.1, the welding supervisor's function is to ensure that the weld process is appropriately managed before, during and after the welding

HS&E Statements of Responsibility

· Comply with the HSE policies and procedures.

· Participate in meetings, training and other environment, health, and safety activities.

Required Capability and Experience

· Minimum of five years' experience in supervising steel fabrication workshops

· Ability to write and supervise the qualifying of welding procedures.

· Detailed technical knowledge and expertise in metal fabrication methods.

· Suitably qualified for and experienced in the welding operations they supervise (see Table 7.4 of AS/NZS 5131).

· Welding coordination personnel shall have technical knowledge of the welding processes and equipment, materials, and their behavior during welding.

· Specific areas that the supervisor is trained in are detailed in the Australian standard AS 2214 (and similarly AS 1796-Certificate 10), or equivalent qualifications as defined in Clause of AS/NZS

· Technical knowledge of a welding coordinator as per ISO 14731.

· Ability to read structural drawings.

· Extensive knowledge of AS 3834 application

· Experience in the training of apprentices / trainees

· Ability to schedule and supervise supplier and subcontract services.

· Understanding of relevant industry Standards and Safety Codes

Ongoing Training and Study Requirements

· Attend industry courses relating to new and relevant methods of workshop production and quality improvement.

· Continual reading of technical and industry reference materials

Duties

· Control, review, and distribution of quality welding documentation

· Conduct inspections of maintenance, workshop, and contractor workmanship

· Co-ordinate NDT and welding activities as required.

· Liaise with client inspection personnel on projects as required.

· Co-ordinate welder qualification testing & implementation of welding procedures for new & existing projects

· Assist QA Department in quality audits, and systems & processes as required.

· Ensure all welding is carried out to the correct standards and drawing specifications.

· In process and final inspection on all product to company QA standards and specified standards

· Recommend changes and improvement to product design and production methods.

· Ensure all welding check sheets and inspections are fully completed, signed off and returned to the workshop office.

· Carry out maintenance and service to company owned equipment and machinery in the workshop. (Calibration of welding machines)

· Maintain tools and equipment in an efficient and safe operating condition.

· Always give priority to thoroughness and quality of workmanship

· Ensure all plant and equipment is tested and safe to operate.

· Ensure all workshop personnel adhere to company HSE policies.

· Ensure safety, tidiness, and cleanliness in work areas under their control.
