Graduate / Site Engineer – Civil Construction

Malcolm Civil is seeking a motivated Graduate / Site Engineer for a range of infrastructure and commercial projects across South East Queensland. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic fast-paced environment and is looking to grow their technical and project management skills.
Malcolm Civil handles a diverse range of projects, from principal contracted projects with budgets up to $15m involving a range of trades and specialisations, to smaller specialized civil structures or pavement and bridge remediation. Our clientele includes local authorities, ports, commercial entities, and private stakeholders. Project durations vary from 12 months to highly planned and executed 2 week long special works.

This role involves extensive mentoring with a fast-track career progression into a Site or Project Engineer for the right candidate.
What You Will Do
Quality & Compliance
* Manage on-site quality processes including ITPs, checklists, test requirements, and inspection records.
* Coordinate hold points and witness points with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
* Conduct site inspections and ensure works meet project specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
Site Coordination
* Support site supervisors to plan and sequence daily activities.
* Monitor workmanship, materials, and progress to ensure efficient delivery.
* Complete initial subcontractor and supplier coordination ensuring clear communication of project expectations and handing over to site supervisors.
Technical & Engineering Support
* Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
* Prepare site maps, mark-ups, and construction sketches to support delivery.
* Contribute to problem-solving on civil infrastructure works.
Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain daily site records including diaries, photos, quality logs, and test registers.
* Assist in preparing as-constructed documentation and QA submissions.
* Support the project team in tracking progress, variations, and risks.
About You
· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (essential)
* Aptitude and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
* Experience or exposure to earthworks, concrete, utilities, drainage, or demolition (placements, internships, or entry-level roles highly regarded).
* Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality and site delivery.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, trades, and senior engineers.
* A willingness to be site-based and involved in day-to-day construction activities.
* Ability to utilise technology and Microsoft software.
* White Card (essential).
* Previous experience with imaging drones & surveying total stations would be regarded.
