The Role
A rare opportunity exists for an experienced climate change and sustainability practitioner to lead the Climate Action team, facilitating emission reductions within the organisation and across the community. The role involves providing expert advice on energy and emission reduction initiatives, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, preparing and delivering high‑quality reports, and identifying and managing funding opportunities.
Current projects include the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration, home and business energy‑efficiency engagement programmes, sustainable design advice, updating the Zero Carbon Plan, preparing a Carbon Offsetting Policy, and supporting the expansion of public electric vehicle charging across the City.
This position is full‑time or part‑time with flexibility to work four days a week.
About You
Success in this role requires a track record of delivering initiatives that reduce emissions within an organisation and the broader community. You should have knowledge of carbon accounting, behaviour‑change theories and practices, and be up to date with current climate‑change policies and programmes. Strong leadership skills, a solutions‑focused attitude, an aptitude for turning ideas into results, and the ability to inspire and motivate others are essential, as are strong project‑management skills, experience building and maintaining relationships, and the ability to take an initiative from idea through to completion.
A satisfactory police records check is required for this position.
