About the Role
Psychological Health Service (PHS) sits within MHAOD directorate. Role provides opportunity for psychologists and social workers to practice in dynamic environment. Flexible working arrangements available, weekend shifts, part-time rosters. Scope to transfer to regional prisons.
Responsibilities
Clinical assessment and intervention for prisoners at acute and chronic risk of suicide or self-harm, mental health issues, difficulties coping, adjusting to prison or transition to release.
Evidence based clinical assessment and intervention services responding to psychological health needs of prisoners.
Consultation and participation in multi-disciplinary risk management processes and case management meetings.
Eligibility
Current valid "C" class motor vehicle driving license.
Travel state-wide for business related affairs.
Evidence of current registration by AHPRA or Social Work tertiary qualifications consistent with AASW requirements, provided prior to commencement.
Permanent position eligibility: Australian citizen or permanent resident status.
Qualifications – Successful Applicants Must Possess
Four year qualification in Psychology and registration with Psychology Board of Australia.
OR Four year qualification in Social Work, eligible for full membership with Australian Association of Social Workers or The Society of Professional Social Workers and a minimum of two years supervised practice in counselling.
