About the Role
As a Project Officer, you will be responsible for providing project management and administrative support to ensure timely delivery of key disaster recovery and readiness initiatives. This involves leading the development of Natural Disaster Declarations, engaging with councils and emergency agencies, and preparing supporting documentation.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects that support communities through disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. You will work independently and deliver results under pressure and within tight timeframes.
You will possess a strong understanding of project management principles and experience applying them in complex environments. Additionally, you will have knowledge of the National Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements and Natural Disaster Declarations, as well as best practice in disaster recovery exercise development and facilitation.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in communicating complex information clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders. They will also be aware of contemporary disaster and emergency recovery principles and practices.
About the Agency
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is an executive agency of the Premier's Department. The agency aims to improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities recover from them faster. To achieve this, the agency will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government, and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide project management and administrative support to ensure timely delivery of key disaster recovery and readiness initiatives
- Lead the development of Natural Disaster Declarations, engaging with councils and emergency agencies and preparing supporting documentation
- Support the planning and facilitation of recovery exercises, including convening planning groups and compiling materials
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Recovery Surge capability
Requirements
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver results under pressure and within tight timeframes
- Strong understanding of project management principles and experience applying them in complex environments
- Knowledge of the National Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements and Natural Disaster Declarations
- Knowledge of best practice in disaster recovery exercise development and facilitation
