Job Title: Fire Safety Assessor Salary: $100k - $135k Super Car Location: Rydalmere, NSW Client Type: Commercial, Government, and Defense About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Safety Assessor to join our team. Based in Rydalmere, this role focuses on clients across New South Wales (NSW) and offers an exciting opportunity to assess, evaluate, and ensure fire safety compliance for a diverse range of buildings. As a Fire Safety Assessor, you will be responsible for reviewing and preparing Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) after conducting comprehensive building fire safety assessments. Key Responsibilities: Conduct assessments of fire safety systems within various buildings and properties, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations. Review existing Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFFS) and prepare new ones after completing thorough building assessments. Assess and provide advice on compliance measures relating to fire safety systems, including sprinklers, fire doors, portable fire equipment, electrical and mechanical fire systems, and fire suppression systems. Liaise with building surveyors to review fire safety audits and facilitate compliance certification for properties. Evaluate fire safety measures related to emergency evacuation, lighting, and other relevant safety equipment. Ensure compliance with industry standards for the installation, operation, and maintenance of fire safety systems. Work closely with commercial, government, and defence clients to ensure annual audits and compliance certifications are completed as per regulations. Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Building Surveying, or a related engineering field, or equivalent trade qualifications. Experience in building design, fire safety, or operation of fire safety systems, with practical knowledge of fire protection systems. Strong understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA), specifically Part E (Fire Safety), and related Australian Standards. Prior experience in fire safety assessments, fire protection systems, or facilities management (e.g., Stockland or property management companies that conduct fire safety audits). Knowledge of fire safety regulations under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the process for issuing Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) in NSW. Competency Requirements: Ability to assess the compliance of fire safety systems within buildings, ensuring adherence to the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and relevant standards. Capability to identify deficiencies in fire safety systems and recommend necessary improvements. Proven competency in preparing and issuing the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) confirming the compliance of fire safety systems within the building. Familiarity with standards such as AS 1851 (Maintenance of fire protection systems) and AS 1670 (Fire detection, warning, control, and intercom systems). Registration & Certification: Must be registered on the Fire Protection Association (FPA) website or hold relevant industry accreditations. Required to hold professional indemnity insurance to cover liability for any errors or omissions in assessments. Membership in recognized professional bodies such as Engineers Australia or Fire Protection Association Australia is preferred. Additional Requirements: Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders, including building owners, managers, and surveyors. Ability to stay current with evolving fire safety technologies, standards, and legislation through ongoing professional development. About You: You are an experienced professional with a strong background in fire safety engineering, building surveying, or fire protection systems. You possess a thorough understanding of NSW fire safety regulations and industry standards. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work across multiple projects, ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.
