An opportunity exists for a dedicated, innovative and passionate Principal Advisor, Mental Health to join the Far North Queensland Student Services team based in Cairns Regional Office.

As Principal Advisor, Mental Health, you will support schools in the region to to implement whole-school, evidence informed mental health strategies. Additionally, you will provide strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on mental health and wellbeing.

Why this Role?

As Principal Advisor, Mental Health you will have responsibility for the following:

* Support schools to implement and action the Student Learning and Wellbeing Framework (SLaWF).
* Support Schools with the implementation of whole school mental health strategies and postvention planning, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, governance and best practice.
* Support Schools to create safe, supportive and inclusive learning environments for all students, including those at risk of disengagement or mental health challenges.
* Support schools to embed social emotional wellbeing and personal social capabilities from the Australian curriculum across all school activities.
* Build capacity and mental health literacy among staff, students, and families through coordinated professional learning and resource provision.
* Promote and support data use in schools and regions, including participation in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing survey, to identify needs, evaluate services, and inform resource allocation aligned with department wellbeing priorities.
* Provide evidence-informed strategic wellbeing advice to senior leaders and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with broader departmental goals.
* Advise on regional and local priorities to positively influence the implementation of whole-school approaches to social and emotional learning programs, fostering a culture of inclusivity and wellbeing.
* Collaborate with the regional wellbeing team to develop tiered support frameworks that address diverse student needs and strengthen engagement and wellbeing
* Champion inclusive education practices across the region and promote evidence-based approaches to student wellbeing.
* Initiate, develop, maintain and promote effective multiagency and multidisciplinary networks that coordinate a holistic response to complex educational issues.
* Monitor and report on program performance, data, and outcomes to inform regional planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
* Provide expert advice to regional leadership teams on student wellbeing supports
* Drive consistent implementation of departmental policy, frameworks, and best practice in student wellbeing.
