Senior Associate - Special Counsel, Dispute Resolution & Litigation

Exciting opportunity for a high performing Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join one of Melbourne's most highly regarded litigation practices.

27th October, 2025

About the team

This is an exciting opportunity for two high performing Senior Associates or Special Counsels to join one of Melbourne’s most highly regarded litigation practices. Our Dispute Resolution & Litigation practice in Melbourne is a dynamic group with a diverse range of interesting work and a place for lawyers to further develop, grow and be part of a genuine team. Our work includes acting for listed entities, SMEs, large REITs, industry superfunds, state and federal governments, insolvency practitioners, financiers, large family companies and the list goes on. Our partners all have areas of expertise and industry leadership that each of our team members get to experience.

About the role

We are seeking two experienced and intelligent disputes lawyers to work closely with Partners Alana Giles, Jessica Tsiakis and Howard Rapke and a team of lawyers and paralegals. While one role will focus on retail leasing and property disputes, examples of the work undertaken in the wider team also include:

* Property disputes
* Commercial/corporate conflicts
* Large family trust disputes
* Acting for corporate regulators and companies in regulatory investigations and civil penalty proceedings
* Acting for insolvency practitioners, directors and creditors in all matters arising out of the administration, liquidation and receivership of companies
* Retail, commercial and industrial leasing: advising a number of Australia’s largest commercial landlords and tenants in matters of strategy, risk assessment and management, alternative dispute resolution and litigation
* Prosecuting and defending shareholder oppression claims
* Defending companies and individuals in matters involving white‑collar crime including fraud, foreign bribery and anti‑corruption matters as well as prosecutions under Federal and Victorian criminal law
* Acting for state and federal governments on investigations, Royal Commissions, procurement disputes and a range of advice matters
About you

You will be a highly experienced, results‑driven lawyer who is interested in taking on a key leadership role within the practice. You will have outstanding technical ability with a track record of delivering outstanding results for your clients and thrive in a collaborative work culture, including a desire to help those around you. You will enjoy working with less experienced lawyers and possess the capability to not only supervise and develop others but also motivate and contribute to the overall morale and success of the team.

* At least 6 years’ experience as a Senior Associate or Special Counsel in a well‑regarded litigation practice.
* Experience in general commercial disputes and insolvency. Prior experience in investigations and/or government disputes work is a bonus. For the role working closely with Alana Giles, specialised experience in property and/or retail leasing disputes will be required.
* Proven ability to coordinate, manage workflows under pressure and delegate appropriately to a team of lawyers and paralegals.
* Experience in engaging with a broad range of individual, corporate and government clients with the ability to cultivate successful and trusted client relationships.
* Superior analytical, research and drafting skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for two talented lawyers to join a successful team and advance their career in the law.
