About the Role and About You
SGCH is seeking a Compliance and Fire Safety Coordinator to support statutory fire and building safety compliance across our housing portfolio. Working closely with the Compliance and Fire Safety Manager, contractors and internal stakeholders, this role plays a key part in providing administration support, coordinating inspections, rectification works, documentation and access to ensure our homes remain safe, compliant and well maintained for residents. You will contribute to the delivery of Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS), support smoke alarm compliance including NCAT access orders, and help identify, escalate and resolve safety risks in a timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and conduct regular site inspections of critical building safety systems, including fire safety systems, lifts and other regulated assets
* Identify defects or non‐compliance issues and coordinate rectification works through to completion
* Support planned maintenance programs by coordinating access, scheduling works and maintaining accurate site records
* Monitor lift breakdowns and false fire alarms, communicating impacts and escalating risks as required
* Review contractor reports, validate quoted works within delegation and coordinate payment processing
* Coordinate, review and submit Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) and maintain audit‐ready records
* Prepare NCAT access order applications for smoke alarm servicing
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to support resident communications, safety outcomes and WHS compliance
Essential Criteria
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in building, fire safety, construction, property management, or equivalent practical experience
* Experience coordinating compliance, inspections, maintenance, or operational activities in property, facilities, or housing environments
* Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills to manage multiple priorities and liaise effectively with contractors and stakeholders through to resolution
* High attention to detail with strong written communication, record keeping abilities, and proficiency in IT systems, including databases, MS Word, and Excel
* Current NSW Drivers License and willingness to travel to SGCH office and portfolio locations
