Base salary will be in the range $93,491 - $100,296 (Up to $54/hr) + Allowances + Overtime + 17% Super + Market Loading. Full-time, permanent position available with flexible start/finish times and good work life balance. Based at our Gatton Campus. Property and Facilities.
About This Opportunity
The total package includes an annual market loading amount in addition to the base salary. Extension of the loading will be reviewed on Dec in line with policy.
Are you a skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Technician or Plumber ready for the next step in your career? We're looking for an experienced Technician who wants more than just day-to-day service calls. This role blends hands-on trade work with project coordination and on-site coordination responsibilities.
Locally known as Client Facility Coordinator, you'll still work on HVAC or Plumbing systems while also acting as the on-site point of contact – helping manage minor works, coordinate contractors, resolve technical issues, and ensure facilities perform at their best. If you've thought about diversifying into coordination while staying on the tools, this role offers that combination.
Your trade is the most important qualification. Experience in other non-licensed areas or small-scale project work is a bonus, and UQ will provide support and training to help you grow.
Key Responsibilities
* Support continuous improvement and contribute to a safe, efficient facilities environment.
* Deliver and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and minor works across the Gatton campus.
* Act as the main client contact, managing requests and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* Supervise contractors, source quotes, and oversee works to meet safety, quality, budget and timeframes.
* Inspect and monitor building assets and systems, log jobs, and maintain accurate records.
* Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and UQ safety requirements.

About You
We're looking for an experienced HVAC/Refrigeration or Plumbing Technician with strong technical expertise in building maintenance across large facilities. Dual Trade is advantageous but not essential.
The successful candidate should show a strong desire for professional growth and a commitment to learning a wide range of building and maintenance systems. Adaptability and a proactive approach to acquiring new technical knowledge are essential.
You will be supported by a team of experienced tradespeople and facility managers offering mentorship and guidance.
The HVAC Technician must have an Arctik license, QBCC Mechanical Service license and a restricted Electrical license with extensive maintenance experience. The Plumber must have a Queensland Plumbing License.
* Experience in commercial and industrial maintenance.
* Current open Queensland Driver's Licence.
* Proven knowledge of building services.
* Basic computer skills.
* Be available to take part in an after-hours on-call roster.
* Strong understanding of WHS and environmental legislation, codes and standards.
* Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage diverse maintenance issues effectively.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong, trusted relationships.
* Willingness to learn building services including reticulated water, HVAC plant, electrical, lighting and power, chilled water, compressed air/vacuum, fume cupboards and building management systems.
* A desire to grow and learn project and contract management within building maintenance services.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
