Ministry of Defence Human Resources Officer - British High Commission Canberra
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the MOD Human Resources Officer is responsible for administering the British Military personnel programme embedded in the Australian Department of Defence or Australian Defence Force. This programme typically involves approximately 80 serving military and defence civilian personnel at any one time. The role promotes defence interoperability between the UK and Australia.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
* Maintain and issue arrival and departure briefs to all exchange personnel assigned to Australia, ensuring policy compliance and clarity in communication.
* Administer the Overseas Furniture Package Scheme (OFPS) and inventories, including understanding entitlements and processing claims for payment.
* Control and update the Exchange Personnel Contact List and the Arrival/Departure List, maintaining accessibility for relevant stakeholders and advising personnel on policy changes.
* Process claims from exchange personnel and issue payment notifications according to current policies.
* Enter personnel details into the Immigration System in collaboration with the Australian Border Force.
* File and retrieve correspondence related to exchange personnel issues for Military Advisors, Office Manager, or Finance Manager.
* Distribute official mail to exchange personnel.
* Participate in Defence Section meetings, providing updates on exchange personnel matters.
* Assist in organising the Annual Exchange Conference.
* Deputise for the Office Manager and Finance Manager as needed within defined responsibilities.
* Support exchange personnel in obtaining rental properties, including setting up rental agreements through the Finance Manager.
* Perform other tasks as directed by the Finance and Office Managers.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in desk research and writing skills.
* High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Full Australian driving licence.
* Experience with OneDrive and SharePoint.
Language requirements:
Fluent in both oral and written English.
Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience:
* Experience working in a Government department or military environment.
