Rare opportunity to join a leading Tier 1 contractor in a Commercial Manager role, overseeing financial and contractual aspects of a flagship project.
Our client is an established market leader in the Tier 1 construction space, renowned for delivering some of Australia's most iconic large-scale projects.
They are now seeking an experiencedCommercial Managerto take a key leadership role on a high-profile $350m+ new build project.
You will be responsible for the overall commercial strategy, financial performance, and contract management of the project, ensuring profitability and compliance throughout its lifecycle.
This role will suit a commercially astute professional with strong leadership experience, ideally gained within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor environment.
You'll oversee a team of Contracts Administrators while working closely with Project and Senior Management to drive project outcomes, manage risk, and maintain client relationships.
This is a company known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and major project exposure.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Lead the commercial and contracts administration team across the full project lifecycle
Develop, monitor, and report on project financial performance and forecasts
Oversee subcontract procurement, tendering, and contract negotiation
Review, approve, and manage variations, progress claims, and cost reports
Implement and maintain strong commercial governance and risk management practices
Ensure compliance with head contract obligations and company policies
Work closely with Project Directors and Operations to deliver strategic project outcomes
Provide commercial advice and mentoring to junior team members
Qualifications and Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or similar
7–20+ years' experience in commercial management roles within the construction industry
Proven background delivering large-scale projects ($50m to 100m+)
Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a hands-on approach
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
High level of commercial and contractual acumen
Proficiency in financial reporting, cost forecasting, and contract administration systems
