Leopold Pet Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinary nurse (min 12 months paid work) to cover a maternity leave position. This is a fixed term (approx. 6 month) casual position. We are a small animal clinic based just outside of Geelong in Victoria. Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
* Undertaking nursing duties, including surgical preparation, and monitoring anaesthesia, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and caring for hospitalised animals.
* Maintenance of hygiene and adhere to infection control protocols.
* Providing animal care information on husbandry, nutrition, parasite control and behaviour to pet owners.
* Animal handling including pathology sample collection, and assistance with positioning and restraint of patients for imaging.
* General reception and administrative duties.
* Upholding best practice and high standards of cleanliness and care to ensure the safety and health of the patients and the team.
Mandatory requirements for the applicant:
* Veterinary Nurse experience: A minimum of 12 months paid employment (not including placement)
* Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent (or working towards this).
* Passion for animal care.
* Effective time management and organisational skills.
* Punctual and reliable.
* Team player.
* Must have legal authorisation to work in Australia.
