Position Title: Traffic Engineer
Position Number: POS0345
This permanent, full time position will take on a key role in delivering traffic engineering services to the Transport Team, ensuring the effective management of Launceston's transportation road network. This role is integral to delivering contemporary liveable, connected and active city transport concepts in alignment with the City of Launceston's strategic plans and strategies. Additionally, it provides essential technical engineering advice to assist asset managers in planning for Launceston's future transport demands and growth. Key responsibilities include:
* Planning for the cohesive and future transport infrastructure needs of Launceston, with a focus on network performance and liveability.
* Conducting traffic and road safety modelling and providing data interpretation.
* Providing engineering advice related to contemporary traffic design, standards, codes, and acts.
* Providing technical advice and assessments to enhance road and network safety.
* Investigating and resolving issues relating to road safety, parking and other traffic related matters and making informed recommendations for solutions.
* Leading the scoping and delivery of relevant maintenance programs, such as line marking.
* Preparing technical engineering reports on topics such as speed limit management and road safety improvements.
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of our values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Knowledge of applicable traffic design standards, codes and acts
* Experience in provision of advice regarding design and strategic planning relating to traffic networks
* Strong skills with computer applications such as record management platforms, Microsoft Office software, and traffic modelling
* Commitment to high quality customer service, with demonstrated communication/negotiation skills to explain and discuss issues with customers
* High level of oral and written communication skills, including preparing reports for technical and non-technical audiences
* Current Drivers Licence
* Bachelor of Engineering (Traffic) with relevant industry experience
