Primary objective
Provide a high level of contractual management support, strategic advice and support across the Policy and Legal Services team to
ensure departmental compliance with its contractual requirements, assist in the effective delivery of projects and services and
support policy and legal priorities across the department.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake a range of contractual management tasks including detailed analysis of contracts and related documents to identify
appropriate action, and investigating, analysing and prepare options on a range of contractual matters.
2. Provide high level strategic advice on issues relating to contract management and its intersection with Agency-mandated
contract management systems.
3. Develop, manage and implement a range of administrative processes, information systems, financial and project support
services.
1. The preparation of documents and compilation of evidence in support of specific matters for submission to independent
lawyers, counsel etc.
5. Develop a range of correspondence including high level briefs and ministerials, policy documents and written correspondence
as it relates to the work of the Policy and Legal Services team with advice on program information, contract management and
compliance.
1. Liaise effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, monitoring and distributing information to
departmental management on projects delivery, including risks, opportunity and efficiencies.
1. Work closely with Policy and Legal Services colleagues across three streams to support policy development, legislative
outcomes and the provision of legal services.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated knowledge of contract management policies, processes and systems including, but not limited to business
administration, project management, accounting, finance and law.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of business information management programs and databases including asset/records management
systems and commonly used office applications.
3. Well-developed written skills with demonstrated experience preparing high level, confidential documentation and file notes
with accuracy and attention to detail.
1. Well-developed communication, negotiation and effective stakeholder engagement with the ability to work in a culturally
diverse and sensitive environment.
1. Demonstrated systematic analytical and conceptual skills with sound organisational and coordination skills to set priorities, work
independently and meet deadlines.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience working in business and contract administration, project management
or similar.
2. Experience in, or willingness to develop skills in legal drafting.
