Want to shape the future of business education, lead people, and leave a real legacy?
CIHE's School of Business is seeking a dynamic, people-focused Senior Lecturer to step into the role of Deputy Head, School of Business. This is a hands‑on academic leadership role in a Work‑Hard‑Play‑Hard culture where achievement, collaboration, and student success genuinely matter.
You will be a key driver of online and blended course development, academic quality, and staff capability – helping to build a modern, industry‑connected School of Business.
What you will do
* Work closely with the Head of School to lead, manage, and grow the School of Business.
* A minimum of 1-2 years of academic leadership or management experience is required.
* Lead the design and development of online and blended units and programs in Business and Accounting.
* Champion innovative teaching and learning, including the use of LMSs, digital tools, active learning strategies, and authentic assessment.
* Mentor, coach, and develop academic staff – lifting the quality of teaching, assessment, and curriculum design.
* Contribute to and grow the School's research profile, including publications and research culture.
* Supervise postgraduate (AQF 9 and 10) research students and support colleagues in building their supervision capacity.
* Build strong relationships with industry and professional bodies, ensuring our courses remain current and career relevant.
* Model a student‑centred culture that values respect, engagement, and academic integrity.
Who you are
* A people‑oriented leader who enjoys collaborating, coaching, and helping others succeed.
* Outcome‑focused, with the drive to take ideas through to implementation and measurable impact.
* Passionate about online and blended learning, and confident in leveraging technology to improve student outcomes.
* Able to clearly articulate a strong, evidence‑based teaching and learning philosophy, shaped by experimentation and scholarship.
* Someone who genuinely values and respects students, and understands the realities of today's diverse, often working, student cohort.
* A builder of culture – you want to leave the place better than you found it.
Essential qualifications and experience
* A completed PhD in Business, Accounting, or a closely related discipline.
* A substantial record of research and publication, including at least 10 peer‑reviewed publications in recognised business or accounting journals.
* Successful completion of supervision for at least three AQF 9 or 10 research students.
* Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering online and/or blended courses, including:
o Curriculum and assessment design
o Use of LMS platforms (e.g. Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard or similar)
o Integration of digital learning tools and resources
* Evidence of developing and mentoring academic staff in teaching, curriculum, or scholarly practice.
* Active engagement with your professional community and discipline.
* Current membership of CPA Australia, CA ANZ, or an equivalent professional business body (e.g. AHRI), where relevant to your area of expertise.
* Right to work in Australia.
* A minimum of 2-3 years of higher education teaching experience is required.
* Opportunity to shape strategy and practice, not just deliver content.
* Fast‑track program for promising leaders.
* A growth‑focused institution where innovation in online and blended learning is a priority, not an afterthought.
* A close‑knit, collegial academic community with strong support for leadership, scholarship, and student success.
* A role with genuine scope to leave a lasting legacy in curriculum, culture, and quality.
How to apply
Please submit:
* A cover letter addressing how you meet the key responsibilities and selection criteria.
* A brief statement (1–2 pages) outlining your teaching and learning philosophy, with particular reference to online and blended education and staff development.
