About the Role
Bowen Rail Company is growing our Network Team, and we are seeking a Track Machine Operator/ Maintainers to join our newly establish Resurfacing Team in Bowen. In this role you will safely operate and provide support to maintain the mechanised maintenance fleet. This role will require you to travel across the network and stay in camp accommodation.
* Promote and maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment by adhering to guidelines, standards, codes and procedures, ensuring work groups and rail safety workers receive appropriate inductions and training
* Operate resurfacing machines — including tampers (such as 08-2X) and ballast regulators (such as the Kershaw 4642) — safely and efficiently to meet daily production requirements
* Perform routine, preventative and corrective maintenance, including inspections, servicing, adjustments, lubrication, troubleshooting and fault rectification on all assigned machines
* Respond promptly to machine defects or breakdowns, assisting with diagnosis and repairs to minimise downtime
* Coordinate within the mechanised maintenance crew regarding machine movements, fuel, consumables, tools and general site logistics
* Carry out pre-start and post-shift checks on all plant and equipment, completing required safety inspections to ensure machines are fit for service
* Undertake before and after track measurements and visual inspections, reporting any non-conformances or track quality concerns. Undertake before and after track measurements and visual inspections, reporting any non-conformances or track quality concerns
* Accurately record production data, maintenance findings, defect reports, inspection checklists and all quality assurance documentation, submitting these in a timely manner
* Perform safe working duties to support Pre & Post Works, Machine Maintenance or Resurfacing Operations in accordance with Network Rules and Procedures
* Participate in in-field tasks such as prestart briefings, plant checks, daily site reporting and production reporting
* Liaise with supervisors, maintainers and other operational stakeholders regarding machine status, maintenance needs and operational risks, escalating issues as required.
* Undertake any additional duties as requested to support safe and efficient resurfacing and maintenance operations.

Essential
* Minimum 5 years' experience in an equivalent position experienced in Mobile Equipment Maintenance or Rollingstock maintenance
* Mechanical or Electrical trade qualified
* SARC - Safely Access the Rail Corridor (Nationally Accredited) – or ability to obtain
* General Construction Induction – or ability to obtain
* Current Open 'C' Class Driver's License
* Computer proficient (Advanced Microsoft Office)
* Knowledge of maintenance and servicing in a rail environment
* Knowledge of rail safety standards, rules, and procedures
* Ability to read and interpret maintenance documents including manuals and drawings
* Ability to commute across Bowen Rail Company site locations
* Qualified Rail Bound Plant Operator (Medium / Heavy)
* Organised with attention to detail and ability to prioritise deadlines
* Effective time management and problem-solving skills
Desirable
* Qualifications in a related rail discipline. (i.e. Certificate II/III in Rail Infrastructure)
* Qualified as a rail Protection Officer (PO)
* Qualified as a Rail Track Certifier
