SNSWLHD is looking for a Rural Generalist for Hospital in the Home (HITH), with a Fellowship from FRACP and with subspecialty training and experience in medical oncology.

Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the state, from Goulburn and Crookwell to the Victorian border, and surrounds the ACT on three sides, a total of 44,537 sq km. It extends from the pristine beaches of the NSW South Coast, the farmlands of the Southern Tablelands, across the picturesque Great Dividing Range and the spectacular Snowy Mountains. Southern NSWLHD comprises of 2 Networks - Inlands centred around Goulburn, Monaro, Queanbeyan and Cooma, AND Coastal centered around Bega, Batemans Bay and Moruya in the far south‐east corner of NSW and the Integrated Care Network.

What you'll be doing

Provide contemporary comprehensive Physician services and Medical Governance for optimal patient outcomes for the newly established Hospital in the Home (HITH) Model of Care. The role will establish and maintain a district wide multidisciplinary approach to care and work in partnership with Nurse Practitioners and multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic integrated care in line with HITH PD2025_004.

You will be employed by Southern NSW Local Health District to provide the delivery of acute and sub‐acute treatments by healthcare professionals in the patient's home, residential aged care facility, community setting or the Hospital in the Home (HITH) unit. The position is a district wide position servicing HITH patients across SNSWLHD. Secondary appointments within other facilities may occur by mutual agreement.

Essential Criteria

* Current Registration as a Medical Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with subspecialty training and experience in medical oncology.

Selection Criteria

* Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as Emergency or Specialist General Physician and the ability to accept care of a variety of clinical conditions.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively and provide clinical leadership of a multidisciplinary team including Nurse Practitioners.
* Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability and willingness to partner in collaborative care models with relevant specialists.
* Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
* Demonstrated understanding and commitment to all aspects of clinical governance.
* Demonstrated ability to consistently display a commitment to, and compliance with, and leadership in high quality Customer Service, Workplace Diversity, Occupational Health & Safety and Industrial Democracy principles, practices and relevant legislation relating to these areas and an understanding of and commitment to the organisation's values.
* Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

This is a Category 'A' position. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
