This position will provide senior clinical leadership within mental health and substance use service provision including optimisation of consumer care delivery, as well as supporting the mentoring and development of staff.
This position is a community based clinician that will support integrated mental health care across inpatient and community sites. Based in one of the two Assertive Outreach Teams in SLHD, this position will work within community mental health services to support long stay mental health consumers with comorbid substance use and ensure community tenure. One of the two roles will work across inpatient and community settings to ensure initiation of interventions and transfer of care. The role involves health promotion, assessment, brief intervention, care-planning, linkage and re ferral to support consumers whose complex substance use may not have been met by more traditional drug and alcohol services. This position will work closely with SLHD Drug Health Services.
The Senior Clinician, Assertive Outreach position has three primary roles. Firstly, this position will develop and provide direct clinical interventions for people with co-morbid substance misuse and mental health problems. Secondly, this position will support workforce skill development enabling staff to better support people with complex mental health presentations and substance misuse. Thirdly, the position will have accountability for ensuring the Pathways to Community Living (PCLI) assessments and reporting are completed, as directed. Based in the Assertive Outreach Teams the priority populations for this position is (1) long stay mental health consumers (2) the at risk of long stay cohort, who are likely to be frequent presenters/ admissions with serious mental illness (3) consumers requiring increased support to enable community tenure. Ideal Candidate
* Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Social Work (with experience at Level 2 or higher), or Nursing. Full AHPRA registration (OT & CNS2) or eligibility for membership to AASW. A minimum of three (3) years full time equivalent experience in drug and alcohol treatment. For CNS2 grading, relevant post registration qualifications or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
* Demonstrated advanced knowledge of and skills in recovery oriented services, evidence based treatments for drug and alcohol and consumer involvement in service design, implementation and evaluation.
* Demonstrated advanced skills in the comprehensive assessment and management of complex mental health consumers with comorbid substance misuse, including ability to prioritise and problems solve clinical issues, assessment, care planning & coordination, service linkage, knowledge of harm minimisation and discharge planning.
* Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organisational, time management and computing skills, and current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
