Chefs (Full-time) - Port Douglas, Far North Queensland
We are seeking passionate Chefs at all levels to join our kitchen team at Hemingway’s Brewery in beautiful Port Douglas, overlooking the marina. Working under our experienced Head Chef, you will help deliver exceptional food and service and create a high-quality dining experience for our guests.
In this role, you will assist with food preparation and service, maintain high presentation and hygiene standards, support kitchen operations during service, minimise waste, help with stock control and ordering, and contribute to staff training and menu development. You will also help ensure compliance with food safety requirements and support a well-organised, efficient kitchen.
About you
You will be a trade-qualified Chef with Commercial Cookery qualifications (or have at least three years of relevant experience in place of formal qualifications), along with at least one year of experience as a Chef in a similar hospitality environment. You will have strong time management, attention to detail, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. You must also be physically fit and able to perform in a fast-paced, hot kitchen environment.

As the first brewery of its kind in Far North Queensland, we offer handcrafted beers, relaxed tropical dining, and genuine hospitality. We also operate SAILS by Hemingway’s, an upstairs bar offering fine wines, handmade cocktails, and light meals. We are driven by innovation, authenticity, quality, and performance.
We are offering a full-time wage position with a salary in the vicinity of $70,000 to $85,000, depending on level and experience. During the busy season, you may work up to 50 hours per week, while in the wet season you may work 38 hours per week. You will be paid for every hour worked, plus allowances, annual leave loading, and leave entitlements.
