Job Overview

The Principal Technology Officer is a pivotal role that entails delivering high-quality ICT support services across the state, ensuring efficient and effective operations.

This position provides on-site and remote level 2 technical support, incident management, and request fulfillment in one or more technology domains to ensure defined enterprise service levels are met. The technical domains include End User Computing, Servers and Networks, and Unified Communications.


Main Responsibilities

* Ensure assigned priorities are met in accordance with defined enterprise service levels by providing support and assistance in clarifying tasks.
* Supervise and manage visiting ICT support staff, such as suppliers, adhering to unit and organizational goals, policies, and procedures, and seek opportunities to improve service provision through mentoring.
* Lead and mentor a technical team by adhering to unit and organizational goals, and procedures.
* Work independently with minimal supervision and commit to self-management in prioritizing and managing workloads, commuting to supported sites, and representing eHealth Queensland in communications with senior staff within the Health Department as required.


Evaluation Criteria

* Demonstrated technical expertise in managing, configuring, monitoring, and implementing ICT environments in multiple technical domains.
* Proven ability to deliver high-quality ICT support to clients, emphasizing workload management, task prioritization, and unsupervised working.
* Ability to identify and resolve ICT-related problems within defined Service Level Agreements.
* Coordinate multiple tasks within agreed priorities, timeframes, and accountabilities.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills and personal qualities facilitating good working relationships, including supervising/mentoring junior staff, and enhancing quality client service in a team environment.

In the Networks and Unified Communications domain, key responsibilities include designing, configuring, building, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise-class networks featuring voice, video, data, and messaging services utilizing WAN, LAN, WWAN, WLAN, IP Telephony, and critical messaging systems.


Tech Stack

* LAN/WLAN components (Queensland Health utilizes Cisco and Alcatel-Lucent products dependent on the site).
* WLAN Controllers.
* Alcatel-Lucent and/or Cisco Voice solutions.
* Paging and messaging systems.
* DHCP.
* Monitoring tools like Cisco Prime, SolarWinds.
