Position Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties to support patient care. They participate in all aspects of pharmacy operations and are key members in delivering superior customer service.
What you'll do
1. Receive prescriptions from patients, ensuring completeness and compliance with provincial regulations, including details such as name, address, DOB, allergies, third-party info, special requests, prescriber, medication type, and prioritization according to guidelines.
2. Perform computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, updating patient information, interpreting prescriptions, refills, report generation, and profile checks.
3. Fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, selecting appropriate products, performing accuracy checks, labeling, organizing for pharmacist review, and facilitating cognitive services.
4. Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, checking for expired medications, managing returns, ordering drugs and supplies, and organizing pharmacy shelves.
5. Keep the dispensary clean and organized, stock supplies, and maintain equipment and work environment safety.
6. Organize clerical tasks such as filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, and completing administrative functions like accounts receivable.
7. Assist with OTC operations, including ordering, stocking, cashier duties, as assigned.
