About The Role
The Barwon South West Public Health Unit is seeking a fixed part time, Community Partnerships Officer based in our Geelong office to work across the Barwon catchment, as well as the broader Barwon South West Region. The position will join an existing team and work with partners and stakeholders to implement the Barwon South West Population Health Catchment plan. The role will focus on capacity building and partnership development to enable collaborative action towards priority areas identified in the catchment plan.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support prevention partnerships and place‐based initiatives, aligning with state‐wide priorities and strengthening collaboration across local organisations, services, and stakeholders.
* Drive community engagement and stakeholder collaboration, building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse partners to support equitable, culturally responsive health promotion activities.
* Contribute to planning and delivery of local health promotion and primary prevention initiatives, focusing on chronic disease prevention, modifiable risk factors, and collective impact across the catchment.
* Support system capacity building and evidence translation, including strengthening workforce capability, fostering partnerships with research bodies, and promoting best practice in prevention and health equity.
What We're Looking For
* Tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, or relevant field.
* A current Victorian Driver's License.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health promotion principles and contemporary practice including systems thinking, collective impact, settings and place‐based approaches.
* Demonstrated skills in partnership, collaboration and advocacy.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain partnerships in primary prevention.
* Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and a commitment to innovation.
