Stepping Stone Social Enterprise Limited is looking for a new Cafe Manager
Work Type: Full time, 38 - 40 hours per week
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per annum + 12% superannuation
Location: Cafe Stepping Stone, Strathnairn
Number of Direct Reports: 3 - 15

Purpose of Position
The Cafe Manager supports and empowers staff through transformative leadership. This role ensures all key decisions relating to the cafe are purpose-aligned, high quality and foster social connection through hospitality. It also plays a vital role ensuring an inclusive and supportive workplace for all staff, clear channels of communication between staff, management and all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Managing all aspects of daily cafe operations, including staff supervision, customer service and inventory control.
* Mentoring, training and onboarding staff and ensuring a positive environment for staff
* Creating and maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers
* Rostering
* Developing and implementing cafe policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Participating in the development of new Cafe products, ensuring Food Quality and Safety.
* Overseeing Food Production procedures and analysing final products to be according to Food Safety Standards.
* Hosting community events to increase engagement inside and outside of cafe operating hours
* Overseeing processes in the organization to reduce waste and increase efficiency
* Meeting KPI's.
Required skills and experience
* Proven experience as a Cafe Manager, Supervisor or in a similar leadership role in the Hospitality sector.
* Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, providing feedback and encouraging staff development
* Customer-focused with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
* Proven experience in Work Integration Social Enterprise, ideally within one that focuses on migrant and refugee women who face barriers to employment,
* Dedication to ensuring a safe, inclusive and compliant workplace environment.
* Knowledge of Food and Beverage Quality Control procedures, and ensuring Health and Safety in a Food-related Workplace.
* Experience in developing Standard Operation Procedures and Policies.
* Experience in Food Quality Management.
* Experience in organizing Fundraising events.
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain
* Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card, or willingness to obtain
* High level of English: writing and oral communication skills
Desirable qualities and experience
* Experience in supporting and empowering individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, ideally within a social enterprise or non-profit setting
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their practical application
* Strong understanding of management programs: Lightspeed, Employment Hero, Ordermentum, Google Workspace.
* Strong understanding of Food Quality Control and GMP standards
* Continuous Improvement mindset and experience.
