The Rainforest School is a small, independent primary school nestled between the rainforest and the beach in South Mission Beach, Far North Queensland. With a maximum of 20 students across Prep to Year 6, our intentionally small, multi-age environment creates a nurturing and safe space where authentic relationships and meaningful learning flourish.

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and flexible Primary Teacher to join our team in Term 4, 2025. This role will teach
English, HPE and The Arts
in a shared two-classroom model:
* Prep–Year 2 group
* Year 3–Year 6 group
Each teaching session has two teachers present. You will be responsible for one group at a time, while your colleague teaches the other.

0.8FTE (Monday to Thursday)
* Term:
Tuesday 7 October – Friday 12 December 2025
* Extension:
Possibility of continuing into 2026
You will work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive teaching team of four part-time teachers, with teacher aide support.
Responsibilities
* Teach English, HPE and The Arts across Prep–2 or Years 3–6 (one group per session)
* Plan, deliver, assess and report against the Australian Curriculum
* Incorporate a mix of explicit teaching, real-life projects and hands-on activities
* Adapt teaching to meet diverse student needs in an inclusive environment
* Design engaging content linked to the school's values and local context
* Organise excursions/incursions as required
* Maintain clear assessment and reporting practices (biannual reporting)
* Collaborate closely with colleagues, parents and the wider community
* Participate in extracurricular activities and professional learning
Essential Criteria
* Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
* Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum
* Ability to plan and deliver engaging learning experiences in multi-age settings
* Demonstrated collaborative and interpersonal skills suitable for a small school team
Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of and enthusiasm for nature-based education
