Senior Psychologist Adult Eating Disorders

This is an exciting opportunity to join the large and expanding Northants Eating Disorder Service (NEDS). NEDS is a passionate and energetic countywide psychology‐led service. The team (over 25. w.t.e.) currently comprises a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists (RMN), Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Specialist Dieticians, Occupational Therapist, Support Workers (including Peer Support Workers), Arts Therapists, and Assistant Psychologists.

NEDS is a very well‐established service, which has evolved over the past 30 years and is a pioneer of community‐based approaches to treatment and support. We offer evidence‐based treatment for the whole spectrum of eating disorders: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild‐moderate cases of Bulimia Nervosa and Binge‐eating disorder, through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa.

The psychology post will provide strong opportunities for clinical leadership, supervision, service development and research combined with a commitment to excellence in clinical practice. There is support for relevant specialist training and the opportunity to undertake sessional work in other related specialities to broaden experience.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the specialty; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy. To offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non‐psychologist colleagues, and to carers, where appropriate.

To lead key areas of service delivery and development.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.

To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

Job responsibilities

We have strong working links with CMHTs, IAPT, Personality Disorder Service, Complex PTSD, Autism and ADHD services within the Trust and also with the Primary and Acute care sector. We are expanding our service to include staff from occupational therapy, family therapy, social work and peer support.

We are developing stronger links with third sector and community organisations and co‐production with service users and carers is highly valued and central to our delivery.

Person Specification

Education and Training

* Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology
* Training in at least two therapeutic modalities
* Postgraduate clinical training
* Evidence of regular CPD activities

Experience and Skills

* Broad range of clinical experience in various settings
* Adult mental health experience
* Research and evaluation skills
* Practitioner skills in key therapeutic modality
* Prior experience working in eating disorder service
* Leadership skills and experience

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

* Good interpersonal skills
* Ability to present information clearly and succinctly
* Strong interest/enthusiasm for working with eating disorders
* Negotiation skills in MDT context
* Clear verbal and written communication skills
* Presentation experience in multidisciplinary settings
* Publication of psychological work
* Teaching and supervision experience
