About the role
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is seeking a Director of Agriculture and Sector Strategy; you will provide executive direction and professional leadership to a taskforce dedicated to the sustainable growth within the sector. In this capacity, you will offer high-level advice to the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Biosecurity and the Executive Director of Agriculture, ensuring that our strategy aligns with government priorities and delivers measurable outcomes. Your responsibilities will include providing informed, evidence-based strategic advice, critically analysing complex issues within the sector, and fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to develop whole-of-government solutions. In this role you will lead and develop a skilled and adaptable team while managing resources effectively to promote a productive work environment that meets our business priorities and commitments.
About you
As the visionary leader of the Agriculture Sector Strategy, you will be at the forefront of initiatives that emphasise the critical role of agriculture in shaping the economy of New South Wales (NSW). Your passion for this sector will inspire and motivate a dedicated team committed to developing a robust Agriculture Sector Strategy. This position requires not only a strong vision but also the ability to lead a team in identifying opportunities and addressing challenges within the agricultural landscape.
You will be a strategic thinker and planner, with proven capabilities to develop a comprehensive Agriculture Sector Strategy that prioritises growth opportunities while facilitating investment. You will identify and prioritise the most promising avenues for sector growth, ensuring that agriculture is positioned as a key driver of a vibrant, export-oriented economy. Your ability to collaborate across government departments will be crucial in streamlining investment processes and supporting the overall growth of the sector.
Your strategic insight and collaborative spirit will be essential to driving the success of the Agriculture Sector Strategy, ultimately positioning agriculture as a cornerstone of economic prosperity in NSW.
