Job Description
The Shutdown Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading the safe and efficient execution of major shutdowns across our lithium processing operation. This pivotal role ensures shutdowns are delivered on time, within quality standards, while coordinating large contractor teams and driving continuous improvement in plant reliability.
Responsibilities:
* Leading the execution of planned shutdowns, ensuring all scope, materials, and labour are ready before commencement;
* Driving shutdown delivery across safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance;
* Supervising shutdown crews and contractors across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with site procedures and permit systems;
* Coordinating daily activities and resources to meet critical milestones and maintain progress;
* Managing large contractor workforces, including onboarding, performance monitoring, and scope alignment;
* Leading pre-starts, toolbox talks, and interface meetings to reinforce safety and productivity expectations;
* Monitoring workfront progress, resolving issues, and implementing real-time corrective actions to avoid delays or cost overruns;
* Managing emergent work and variations with proper approvals and documentation;
* Preparing post-shutdown reviews, capturing lessons learned, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years' experience in maintenance, shutdown, or project delivery within mining, processing, or heavy industry. They must have proven success in executing major plant shutdowns, including managing large contractor workforces. A strong ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in high-pressure, high-risk environments is also required.
* Proven track record in shutdown management;
* Strong leadership and team management skills;
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
* Solid knowledge of WA Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations and statutory compliance requirements;
* Familiarity with Australian Standards for plant isolation, confined space, scaffolding, and pressure equipment.
