This role requires a highly skilled professional to contribute to the development of greenhouse gas emissions modelling and analysis in Queensland.
* GHG Emissions Expertise: A strong understanding of sector-based and facility-based GHG emissions inventory and accounting approaches is essential.
* Data Science Proficiency: Expertise in data science, including R or Python programming, GitHub, and Power BI, is required. Experience with Azure cloud computing is advantageous.
* Project Management: Ability to develop and manage project plans with clear milestones, timelines, and budgets to achieve high-quality scientific outcomes.
* Analytical and Communication Skills: Proven ability to analyse complex technical information, interpret results, and provide accurate, impartial advice using language tailored to the audience.
* Innovative Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and deliver innovative solutions in scientific services, including effective communication and promotion of findings.
* Stakeholder Relationships: High-level ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, stakeholders, researchers, agencies, and industry groups.
Core Functions:
- Scientific Implementation: Provide expertise in designing and delivering GHG modelling, abatement assessment, scenario development, decision support systems, and products.
- Policy Support: Offer specialist scientific expertise, technical advice, and analytical support for ongoing programs, providing data-driven policy advice based on rigorous analysis of GHG emissions data, modelling results, and scenario assessments.
- Representation: Represent the organisation at meetings and committees, addressing issues aligned with the Government's vision and priorities.
- Cultural Engagement: Promote a workplace culture that respects and engages with First Nations people, contributing to better outcomes for these communities.
