Key Responsibilities
* Record, summarise and report the financial transactions of the agency.
* Prepare financial statements including balance sheets, income statements and cash‑flow statements.
* Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
* Analyse financial data, manage ledgers and provide insights to support decision‑making.
* Process accounts payable and receivable, cheque management, bank transactions and payroll deductions.
* Support debt recovery and liaise with major creditors to maintain integrated service provision.
* Maintain general ledger, asset accounting and statutory reporting in line with the Financial Management Act 2006 and Treasurer's Instructions.
* Develop and maintain financial and accounting policies, guidelines and procedures.
* Coordinate monthly reporting, annual financial statements and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
Experience / Qualifications
* Level 3 – Accounts Officer: Organisation and processing of accounts payable, cheque management and bank transactions; reconciliation of payroll deductions and support of accounts receivable.
* Level 4 – Senior Finance Officer: Timely delivery of financial accounting and reporting, asset accounting, general ledger maintenance and statutory reporting.
* Level 5 – Financial Accountant: Controls within systems, oversight of internal and external financial reporting obligations and tax obligations.
* Level 6 – Senior Financial Accountant: Coordination of monthly reporting, annual statements, balance‑sheet reconciliation and policy development.
Talent Register
The Accounting Operations Talent Register is an online portal for full‑time and part‑time opportunities, including fixed‑term/secondment positions for up to 12 months. Registration is open to existing permanent public‑sector employees for transfer at level. Your CV will remain on the register until 30 June 2026; after that you will need to reapply.
