Offer description

Overview

At the National Rugby League (NRL), we're incredibly proud of our game and the impact it has on players, fans, and communities across Australia and the Pacific. Rugby League is an inclusive sport for everyone, and our workplace reflects that we are inclusive, celebrate diversity, and strive to create a culture where all people feel they belong. Rugby League brings people together both on and off the field, with our broadcasts consistently ranking among the most‐watched programs nationwide.

We're looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to join our Finance Team and help shape the future of Rugby League. If you're ready to make an impact in a fast-paced, purpose-led organisation, we want to hear from you.

In the role you will

* Process invoices, reimbursements, and payments accurately and on time, ensuring all required documentation and approvals are in place.
* Reconcile accounts payable transactions, prepare month‐end reports and accruals, and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal teams.
* Maintain compliance with financial policies, procedures, and audit requirements while keeping organised and accurate records.
* Manage vendor relationships by responding to payment enquiries, reconciling vendor accounts, and monitoring statements to resolve outstanding items.
* Support the broader Finance team with audits, reporting, and ad hoc finance tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
* Contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and overall accounts payable performance

Ideally you will have

* Hold a qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or bring equivalent practical experience.
* Have 2-3 years' experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role, with confidence using accounting and ERP systems such as Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or MYOB.
* Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to resolve invoice or vendor discrepancies efficiently.
* Bring solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
* Communicate clearly and professionally, building positive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
* Manage competing priorities effectively, staying organised and meeting deadlines in a fast‐paced environment.
* Uphold high standards of integrity and confidentiality when handling financial and vendor information, and work collaboratively within a team

Whilst we look for experience, we also look for people who share the same beliefs as our organisation - we are UNITED, POSITIVE, INCLUSIVE & DISCIPLINED. Should you meet most of the criteria and share our beliefs, please apply.

The NRL is a child-safe organisation committed to providing a safe place for all children to learn and have fun. We have strong recruitment procedures to make sure the safest and most suitable people work with us and require all applicants to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment, a process that will include, but is not limited to comprehensive reference checks, an identity check, "Working with Children" checks and/or national criminal history checks.
