Facilities Manager Role

About the Position

The School is seeking an experienced and skilled Facilities Manager to join our team.

This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the effective maintenance of people, systems, and processes to maintain the School's facilities and services to a high standard.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in operational excellence, enjoys leading and mentoring teams, and thrives in a hands-on, service-oriented environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient, and proactive management of the School's facilities, contributing to a positive experience for students, staff, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead, supervise, and mentor the grounds and maintenance teams to ensure high-quality upkeep of all School facilities and grounds.
* Manage and coordinate external contractors and service providers to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and effective relationship management.
* Oversee budgeting, delivery, and reporting of maintenance, minor capital works, and improvement projects.
* Ensure full compliance with work health and safety and other legislative requirements, promoting a strong safety culture across the School.
* Develop and monitor service-level documentation and maintenance systems aligned with School priorities.
* Manage the School's computerized systems for heating management and building access control, including security fob administration.
* Participate in the out-of-hours on-call programme and coordinate responses to security, maintenance, and emergency incidents.
* Provide logistical support for School events and activities.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient coordination and communication of facilities-related activities.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

Post-Year 12 qualifications in construction, facilities management, project management, or a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, and contractor supervision.

Strong knowledge of work health and safety compliance and best practices.

Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams to achieve high-quality outcomes.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with staff, contractors, and the wider School community.

Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment).

National Police Check (less than six months old).

First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
