Your Role as Clinical Nurse
You'll deliver person‑centred services across our Hummingbird Houses to provide meaningful and quality care to children and their families by:
>Providing clinical leadership for the clinical teams in Hummingbird House and Hummingbird @ Home to ensure that clinical care aligns with industry standards of best practice, to facilitate safe, timely guest and family outcomes.
* Managing own workload and that of others by ensuring appropriate delegation of tasks within individuals' scope of practice.
* Participating in the orientation and onboarding of Registered Nurses, Personal Care Workers, Students and Volunteers.
* Demonstrating self‑awareness and recognition of professional boundaries in clinical nursing practice and role‑modeling these behaviours to staff.
* Developing and delivering education in line with identified specialist area/area of practice.
* Role‑modeling behaviours to all staff adhering to Hummingbird House and WMQ policies, the Australian Council for Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) Standards and legislative requirements.
* Attending meetings as required by the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant and reporting back as necessary.
* Participating in the development and implementation of evidence‑based services/interventions to meet the needs of the patients, families, and significant others.
* Participating in the clinical audit process and evaluation of process and service outcomes to facilitate the ongoing external accreditation of the organisation.
* Undertaking staff appraisals as requested by the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant.
What We're Looking For
* Experience in providing clinical leadership for multidisciplinary teams in a hospice or palliative setting.
* Strong organisational and delegating skills, managing workload within scope of practice.
* Experience orienting and onboarding staff, students and volunteers.
* Self‑awareness of professional boundaries and role‑modeling behaviours.
* Ability to develop and deliver education programs in specialist areas.
* Knowledge of Hummingbird House and WMQ policies, ACSQHC Standards and relevant legislative requirements.
* Attendance and reporting from critical meetings with the Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Consultant.
* Involvement in evidence‑based service development and clinical audit processes.
* Conducting staff appraisals as required by the organisation.
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must‑Have
* Knowledge of grief and loss theories with experience in bereavement care.
* Post‑graduate qualification (or equivalent) in relevant areas such as Palliative Care, Paediatrics, Critical Care, Community or Midwifery, or working toward same.
* Recent qualifications in training, mentorship.
* Proof of COVID‑19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy).
* Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
* Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for work.
