Job Overview
The Queensland Herbarium is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Botanist to lead its collections team and manage the state's irreplaceable plant and fungi specimen collections.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage the team of experts responsible for enhancing, maintaining and managing the herbarium's collections and databases.
* Provide strategic leadership for complex projects involving diverse stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
* Offer high-quality scientific information to address policy issues, utilizing expertise in botany and project management.
The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, strong scientific knowledge and experience in managing large datasets. They will be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Key Qualifications
* Masters or Ph.D. in Botany or related field.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in managing teams and leading complex projects.
* Proven track record of providing high-quality scientific information to support policy decisions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
