About The Department Of Employment And Workplace Relations

We are committed to empowering futures, ensuring rights and enriching lives. We support people to have safe, secure and well‐paid work with the skills for a sustainable future as we ourselves strive to be a model employer.

We provide the framework for fair and productive relationships between employers and employees. We also oversee skills development and training initiatives to support those entering the workforce or re‐training to take advantage of emerging employment opportunities.

With us, your work directly contributes to shaping the employment landscape. Whether you are engaging in policy development, program implementation, or direct support services, your efforts will have a tangible impact on job seekers, employees and the economy by giving them a framework to build a future anchored and realised through employment.

It is our ambition to do things differently, to create the 'department of great jobs'– where our people reflect our purpose.

The Role

The department has a national network of state and territory offices. In Victoria, we have offices in Melbourne and Bendigo that manage external service providers who deliver skills and employment programs throughout regional Victoria.

We are seeking a candidate who is keen to make a difference to people's lives through contract managing employment service providers' delivery of high‐quality, tailored services to help job seekers secure sustained employment. Reporting to an Assistant Director (EL1) team leader, Delivery & Engagement Officers will work within a supportive team environment and be responsible for the contract management of Australian Government funded skills and employment programs, as well as place‐based strategies that help ensure employers have access to skilled workers.

The Victorian offices (Bendigo and Melbourne) use their unique position to gather intelligence that informs strategic, evidence‐based responses to labour market needs and to advance government priorities. Both offices have strong relationships with training and employment services providers, employers, and industry associations as well as strategic relationships with other Commonwealth, state, territory and local government agencies.

The department creates inclusive workplaces for all where integrity, curiosity and innovation thrive. We encourage applications from a diverse cohort of applicants including First Nations peoples, people with disability, people with caring responsibilities, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and those who identify as neurodivergent.
