Tamworth Hospital’s Surgical 2 Ward is a 26-bed Surgical unit providing patient-centred care to a variety of patients including trauma, elective orthopaedic procedures, and complex medical patients. Orthopaedic RNs manage patients in the post-operative phase (medications and activities of daily living; assisting with mobility and progression post-surgery/trauma) and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure best discharge outcomes. There are opportunities to develop new orthopaedic skills such as traction, care of spinal injuries, management of acute fractures, external fixators, and care of compartment syndrome.
You’ll be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Team Leader, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) within the ward. The unit operates on a 7-day rotating roster with 12-hour shifts. A thorough orientation is provided on board, and a learning plan will be developed to suit individual needs.
As Our New Orthopaedic RN, You Will
- Work well and enjoy being part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
- Display willingness to learn new skills and assist other staff
- Communicate clearly and effectively with both patients and other staff
- Demonstrate your previous experience in surgical nursing

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
