What you'll be doing The position will support the implementation and delivery of Child and Youth Mental Health services within a recovery framework. This framework requires that services demonstrate a culture and language of hope and optimism, be person-centred and holistic, support personal recovery, develop a workforce and organisational culture that is conducive to recovery and make active choices regarding social inclusion.
Carer Peer Workers use their lived experience and work collaboratively with other Mental Health Service staff to support and advocate for young people, their families and support people using Mental Health Services, with a primary focus on carers.
This role will support carers by:
– Supporting staff to increase their capacity for Carer inclusive practice
– Supporting the mental health service to more strategically align itself to the needs of Carers
– Increasing the organisations capacity to work in partnership with Carers, including service provision, co-production, consultation and the role of Carer Advisors.
– Ensuring the Carer voice is clearly articulated and heard at all levels of the health service
Carer Peer Workers also have a role in educating clinical staff and providing representative input into systemic issues through service development activities.
Carer Peer Workers will receive appropriate training, supervision and support to carry out their roles.
