Primary objective
Provide an accountable and efficient inventory management service for the Alice Springs Correctional Centre Canteen and
Vending Machine Operations, including the procurement and subsequent allocation of stock for sale.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage daily operational requirements of the Prisoner Canteen and related systems, ensuring all incoming requests are
actioned in a timely manner through the Alice Springs Correctional Centre (ASCC) Point of Sale system Pronto.
2. Manage all elements of the Canteen including receiving and delivering goods, monitoring stock lines, registering
incoming requests and supervising employed prisoners.
1. Conduct stock takes, vending machine inspections and cleaning. Identify and report faults as appropriate.
2. Maintain and control records, through accurate data entry.
3. Assist Purchasing Officer by obtaining quotes, sourcing and obtaining items and processing data in the Government
Accounting System (GAS) and Prisoner Money Management System (PMMS).
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed customer service and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with people from
diverse cultures and all levels of staff.
2. High level data entry skills along with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Programs such
as Outlook, Excel and Word.
3. Working knowledge of financial management practices including procurement, accounts payable, purchase orders and
general ledgers.
4. Knowledge of procurement policies and procedures, together with associated legislation and guidelines.
5. Working knowledge or previous experience with other accounting and inventory systems.
6. Previous experience maintaining stock levels, including stocktake and re-ordering.
7. Current Drivers Licence or ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Knowledge and understanding of custodial operations in the Northern Territory and understanding of the requirements
and limitations of working within a complex secure environment
Further information
