Teacher – Alternative Learning Settings
Department of Education, Western Australia – Rockingham Site.
Position: 12‐month fixed term, full‐time, commencing Term 1, 2026, with possible extension or permanency.
About the role: The School of Alternative Learning Settings (SALS) offers specialised support for students with complex behaviour. As a SALS teacher, you will collaborate with a multi‐skill team to design and implement a student‐centred, ecological framework of support, deliver social‐emotional curriculum, and contribute to the program's strategic development.
Prerequisites:
* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa with relevant work rights.
* Apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start.
* Consent to and obtain a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
Preferred experience and skills (not mandatory but advantageous):
* Student engagement and transitions, case management, or social and emotional learning programme development.
* Background in student support and current professional learning, or willingness to undertake targeted professional learning in de‐escalation, circle of courage, therapeutic crisis intervention, or trauma‐informed practice.
* Experience with integrated curriculum approaches and developing individual learning plans.
* Valid WA driver's licence; ability to use school transport vehicles or travel to schools within the metropolitan region.
