Indicative Base Salary Package
$339,657 to $447,762 (pro rata for part time) – Excluding Attraction and Retention Incentive – Excluding Managerial Allowance for the Clinical Director component.
Indicative Base Salary Package inclusive of Base Salary + Private Practice Scheme Allowance + On-call allowance + Medical Education Expense Allowance + Superannuation (12%) – Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise.
Additional Salary Opportunity
* Managerial Allowance applicable for the Clinical Director component of the role $44,340 pa (Pro Rata Part Time)
* Attraction and Retention Incentive up to $75,000 pa (Pro Rata for part time)
* Subject to meeting eligibility criteria
* Reviewed for eligibility every two years
* Does not form part of the base salary

Position Overview
Mental Health, Justice Health, Alcohol and Drug Services (MHJHADS) offers compassionate, recovery-focused care for youth and adults across ACT and surrounds. Whether in hospitals, community centres, justice facilities, or even at home, MHJHADS provides specialised support tailored to each stage of life – from children and adolescents to older adults. Services include inpatient psychiatric care, community outreach, and harm minimisation programs, all designed to meet complex mental health needs with dignity and respect.
Justice Health Services (JHS) provides high quality healthcare to people located within the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC), the Dhulwa Mental Health Unit (DMHU) and young people at the Bimberi Youth Justice Centre (BYJC). The successful applicant would be expected to provide care to consumers across all JHS sites.
The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and the professional requirements specified by the appointee's Specialist College.
There will be 20hrs per week rostered to non-clinical or clinical support roles as Clinical Director. There will then be up to another 20hrs per week rostered to clinical duties, depending on the total FTE sought by the candidate (minimum 0.75FTE).
Strong research links are maintained with the ANU, University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University. All specialties are represented with the exception of organ transplantation. The hospital has well developed postgraduate teaching programs. A fully equipped medical library is available on site with a large collection of hard copy and online journals and textbooks.
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/ research matters.

* Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
* Meet credentialing requirements and receive an endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
* Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check
* Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy
