About the Role
This position involves undertaking inspection and compliance activities, coordinating proactive and targeted inspection operations, and preparing, presenting, and reviewing evidence, reports, and submissions to make appropriate recommendations.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in residential building work, particularly Class 1 construction, and strong oral and written communication skills, including preparation of technical reports. They will also have excellent knowledge of the National Construction Code and Building Code of Australia.
Key responsibilities include:
* Undertaking complex mediations and dispute resolution in line with legislation, regulations, and policies.
* Developing and maintaining specialist regulatory knowledge and skills, acting as a resource for managers and team members, and effectively contributing to ongoing development needs of the Department's regulatory role.
* Providing advice regarding significant developments, critical milestones, and identification of options.
* Providing information and advice to industry, businesses, and citizens regarding their rights and responsibilities in relation to relevant legislation.
* Maintaining statistical data, records, and outcomes, and providing timely and accurate reporting of compliance activities undertaken.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
* Demonstrated experience in residential building work, particularly Class 1 construction.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, including preparation of technical reports.
* Excellent knowledge of the National Construction Code and Building Code of Australia.
* Able to manage a caseload in a high-volume work environment while working unsupervised and managing the expectations of customers and traders.
