Schedule: Various shifts between the hours of 07:00 to 20:00 Monday to Friday; 07:00 to 15:00 Saturday and on call as required.
About the role
We are seeking a Supervising Scientist to join our team at Healius. This role is a mix of supervising staff and hands-on laboratory work.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supervising a laboratory with a small team of medical scientists in a multi-disciplinary setting (Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation, Stat Micro and Andrology)
* Prioritising workflow to meet client requirements
* Ensuring results are released within agreed turnaround times
* Liaising with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal results
* Overseeing the management of laboratory equipment to ensure it is maintained in optimal condition; scheduling routine maintenance and performing unscheduled maintenance as required
* Reviewing and updating laboratory documentation as required
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need a strong blend of skills, including:
* Must hold a Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) or other AIMS-accredited equivalent degree
* At least 2 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary scientific role
* Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnerships
* Experience working under tight deadlines to meet day-to-day targets, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks within set timelines
* Results-oriented and a proactive, effective problem solver
* Proven skills in defining, prioritising, and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines
* Ability to demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity
