This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP
The Financial Accounting and Reporting Branch is part of the Financial Services Directorate and is responsible for coordinating the statutory financial reporting obligations of the Department including the preparation of the Department's quarterly whole-of-government reporting to the Department of Treasury, annual financial statements and other external reporting. This includes the preparation of the Department's MySchool reporting.
2025/2026 and 2026/27 will be a period of transition and system replacement for schools with a flow on impact to the corporate reporting consolidation process. The Financial Accounting and Reporting team will be involved in realigning and confirming relevant downstream processes affected.
The Role
The Assistant Financial Accountant will assist with preparing and analysing financial data for inclusion in monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, ensuring that financial information is reported accurately and in a timely manner. The role will also assist with managing, monitoring and reconciling accounts, ledgers and transactions, including processing General Ledger journals as required.
The successful applicant will consult effectively with stakeholders to identify issues associated with accounting policies, support and business processes while also providing quality advice and support to manage and respond to queries, ensuring compliance with legislation.
