The Opportunity
HIA Building Services Advisors are part of a nation-wide network who provide building and technical advice and assistance to our residential builders, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers consistent with HIA perspectives, policies and procedures.
This role suits a professional with:
- Qualifications in a field directly associated with the residential building industry like:
- building
- building certification/surveying
- construction management
- architecture
- engineering construction
- A builder’s licence or building trade qualification.
- Sound knowledge of the building/planning approval systems in NSW/ACT.
- Strong research, writing and computer skills with the ability to produce material in a range of professional formats and styles for relevant target audiences.
- Experience with residential building approval, certification processes, inspection, design, supervision.
- Organisational ability and the capacity to manage competing demands.
- Strong networking and well-developed communication skills.
The Role
Working as part of a dynamic national team, your responsibilities in this role would include:
- Providing technical advice to HIA members on residential building matters:
- NSW building and development regulations;
- the NCC and referenced Australian Standards;
- building materials and construction practices,
- workplace health and safety regulations,
- acceptable standards and tolerances for residential building work.
Providing technical support to the Executive Director and our national building & planning services team and workplaces services team Coordinating and supporting NSW Technical Committee, and other HIA committees. Assisting in the preparation and delivery of technical training material for member programs and delivery of topics at HIA NSW events Assisting in the preparation of technical articles for inclusion in HIA publications and electronic communications Contributing to the development of HIA technical information sheets for members
