To perform transport of dialysis patients to and from the dialysis clinic and to any appointments as directed by Clinic staff; to provide support to the nursing staff in the dialysis clinic by performing non-nursing duties relating to direct and indirect patient care and to assist the Dialysis Clinic Manager in any other tasks as directed.
Key Responsibilities
To treat patients and all staff with courtesy and dignity and provide assistance in and out of the bus
Pick up and deliveries to and from the hospital as required (personal and goods)
Ensure Patient Transport bus is kept clean at all times (externally and internally)
Ensure the bus is serviced as per manufactures' recommendation and is maintained in a road worthy condition at all times.
Assist with repairs in the clinic as directed by the Dialysis Clinic Manager
Help to maintain cleanliness of the clinic externally as directed by the Dialysis Clinic Manager
Ensure and promote a safe, secure and healthy working environment as detailed in the Occupational Health and Safety policy.
Participate in Quality Assurance activities as required by the Dialysis Clinic Manager
Assist with all tasks as requested by the Dialysis Clinic Manager when not engaged in the primary function of patient transportation
Attend to the re-stocking of consumables in the stock room and trolley/s as required for daily operation of the Clinic
Participate in stock take
Ensure correct placement of deliveries (stock, linen, etc)
Competencies (attitude, skills, typical qualifications & experience)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of Work Health and Safety as it relates to the role within the facility
Knowledge of Infection Control / Hygiene principles and implementation of this knowledge into daily practice
Understanding of the Quality improvement process and risk management obligations
Work as a team member
Holder of a driver's license
Essential Qualifications of the position
Previous driving experience
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Previous experience in patient transport within a health care environment and a sound understanding of patients suffering from acute illness and Work Health and Safety Issues relating to the position
