About the Role
We are seeking a talented Sports Reporter to join our team in Geraldton. As a key member of our sports department, you will be responsible for covering local sports, including match reports, hard news, human interest stories, and analysis on various sports such as AFL, cricket, basketball, netball, soccer, surfing, windsurfing, water polo, softball, hockey, and more.
* Cover live sports action and gather original sports and news stories for publication in print and online platforms.
* Develop positive relationships with key people and organizations.
* Break stories and create engaging print and digital content.
* Contribute to news planning meetings and liaise with the Editor regarding story development.
* Interview and photograph subjects and live sports action confidently and professionally.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A strong passion for local sports and news.
* Excellent interviewing and communication skills.
* The ability to work under high pressure and be flexible with work hours.
* A sense of urgency and focus on deadlines.
* A valid driver's license.
